"title": "THE REACH LINE — Beach Commons V11",
"dek": "A giant relay from the Pacific: one soft baton, four honest measures, and an unbroken chain of custody that treats the safest pause as part of the game",
"body": "THE REACH LINE begins at Pacific zero with one oversized soft baton. Two people give it to two people. The line can extend one armspan across dry sand, move between a small set of hosted beach stations, or imagine a coast-length future assembled from separately approved pedestrian legs. The distance is not how fast the baton moves. It is how much trust survives the handoff.\n\nThe relay records four quantities: HANDS counts the people entering the custody chain; GROUND records safely measured movement; FARTHEST marks the farthest staffed station from the Pacific origin; CONTINUITY asks whether human hands or a staffed padded cradle remained responsible for the baton through every transfer and pause. Continuous means unbroken custody, not nonstop motion. Crossings, weather, darkness, mobility needs, rest, and route coordination stop the clock without ending the game.\n\nEight original visual plates move from Zero Mile and the One-Armspan Game through a Living Odometer, Handoff House, and Great Pause, then toward a Twenty-Two-Mile Dream, Moon + Fire-Ring Relay, and Return Arc. The same baton comes home. Every person, pad, cart, card, and piece of human litter comes home with it.\n\nThe human edition includes a browser-local Reach Meter. Visitors can rehearse measured armspan handoffs or safe station legs, pause in a staffed cradle, turn home, undo, reset, and copy a private receipt. Each PASS sounds an original three-tone Handoff Bell generated after the visitor gesture. There is no sample, recording, autoplay, account, location request, network write, analytics event, public leaderboard, or live participant claim.\n\nAt every crossing the relay stops completely and follows existing legal controls; volunteers never direct traffic. The route stays out of bicycle lanes, roadways, surf, dunes, habitat enclosures, fire clearance, and emergency access. Organized beach activity, route occupation, groups, tables, chairs, tools, sound, power, vendors, moving events, road use, filming, and fire require current agency, landowner, permit, insurance, route, access, and safety review. No event is announced.",
