"title": "Three new rooms for Halloween weekend: The Hour, the Haunted Drum Room and the Hallway",
"dek": "A front door that shows one scene an hour, a drum room where everyone plays on one beat with the last visitors' ghosts, and a warm 3D corridor where you hear each room as you pass.",
"body": "Three new pages went up for Halloween weekend. None of them replaces anything: the front page still shows every door.\n\nThe Hour (/hour) shows one scene at a time. Every hour, El Segundo time, it picks one image from Michael Hoydich's Midjourney series Saturday Worlds and Los Angeles / Other Worlds, one short line, one eight-note instrument and one open room. Everyone who visits in the same hour sees the same scene. It reads the weather and the moon, and it lights up when someone is drumming somewhere in town. On Halloween night, from 5 PM to midnight Pacific, it switches to its own pictures, lines and scale, and its only open door is the Haunted Drum Room. Nothing is generated when you visit, so it costs nothing to run.\n\nThe Haunted Drum Room (/haunted-drum) puts everyone on one beat. The beat comes from the room server's clock, so two phones in two cities count the same one. When you arrive, the last 24 taps in the room play back with their original spacing, as ghosts of the people who were there before you. Your device keeps your last phrase and plays it back on the beat when you return. Every 300 beats played in the room, the house answers with a closing fill that everyone connected hears at once. It runs on the existing drum room server, so it works any night, not only Halloween.\n\nThe Hallway (/hallway) is a short walk in 3D, in the spirit of organic architecture. A low wood ceiling, a ribbon of art-glass windows over Roman brick, and doorways to six rooms: The Hour, the Drum Room, Keyboard Bloom, Bell Choir, Brick Choir and the Haunted Drum Room. Each doorway plays its room from its own spot, so you hear Bell Choir on your right as you pass it. At the end the ceiling lifts into a tall room with a stone hearth. Walk with W A S D or the arrows, or the on-screen pad on a phone, and press E at a door to go in.\n\nThe lines on The Hour were written by Claude Code, not by Mike.",
