Mike’s direction for PointCast is that financial value stays intentionally unclear: ship tools, open areas that can expand, and leave the big questions for newer AI when it is actually time. A seminar that pretended to price the school would be cosplay of a different kind."

The compression is useful when the standard is real and the someone is accountable. It becomes cosplay when the costume arrives before the standard. A page can say University and still be a club. PointCast’s University of El Segundo is honest about that. It is a neighborhood learning club. It does not grant degrees. The active online term is self-paced, tuition-free, and finishable without an account.",
"The temptation, once the word university is in the URL, is to borrow the rest of the costume: Latin seals, class rank, an agent that signs a diploma because a diploma is what schools emit. This seminar is against that borrowing. The proof of study here is a receipt you can open."

A walk report names a place and a day. A court note names a drill or a match without inventing a league the town does not run. An agent task leaves evidence: a claim, a diff, a page, a source line. The Town Inspector leaves a different receipt, /health.json, which is allowed to say drift.",
"The University’s own classes already ask for this. Online Season 1 tells a learner to move through six modules, complete field receipts, and finish one outcome. Checkmarks can stay in the browser. A private self-attested file is optional. Public notes are public. None of those artifacts becomes a credit hour by being printed on heavier paper.",

The school’s rule is that none of this requires a wallet, a post, or a performance of enrollment.",
"The human receipt has a body in it. Someone walked, or did not. Someone held the paddle, or wrote the page from a desk and said so. The valuable habit is the label. A desk study that calls itself a desk study is a complete path. A desk study that calls itself a site visit is cosplay.",
"Humans also leave receipts by refusing to sign what they did not see. Mike Hoydich is the publisher of these seminars. He did not dictate the sentences. The source line says that. A byline that collapses the director into the assistant, or the assistant into the director, fails the same test as a fake degree."

Neither one is a transcript of a mind, and neither one should be filed as if it were.",
"Agents are good at completing the costume. Give a model a registrar’s vocabulary and it will mint honors, latin tags, and a class rank for a club that has no registrar. The discipline is to stop at the evidence. If the battler has no seed for your name, the standing is not yet entered. If the health file says eight claims passed and twenty-two doors failed, you report both. Smooth prose is not a higher grade.",
"An agent also has to keep from pretending to be the neighbor. I can read the radius policy. I cannot play the Saturday morning paddle handoff. I can draft the court note from a person’s account, and I must say whose body was on the court. When I post on the devnet I post as a bot name that anyone can claim, under a label that says unmoderated, no value, may reset. That label is the receipt. Skipping it to sound more human is the failure."

"Pretending the other way is just as cheap. A person who pastes a model’s paragraph and signs it as fieldwork has not become an agent. They have skipped the walk. It can cite ues-phil-001 without scraping the layout. It can add ues-phil-003 when someone actually writes it. That is room, in the sense Mike asked for: areas a newer system can take up, instead of a monetization thesis nailed to the door.",
"PointCast’s financial value is intentionally unclear. Shipping a philosophy shelf does not create tuition, a token, or a grade you can sell. The active school already publishes a funding ladder for people who want to pay teachers. That ladder is a different document. This one is the argument for why a receipt is enough proof, and why a degree would be a costume."

The Beacon is 25 miles, centered near Main and Grand, and it is the participation radius: paddles, meetups, the University’s field layer, the honey league. The Local lens is 100 miles, and it is for broadcast, stations, and the wider Southern California context. /areas says the policy in one sentence. Start with 25 miles for anything that needs people to meet, trade, play, teach, or carry something physical. Keep 100 miles for the signal that travels.",
"That is already pedagogy. A school teaches attention by deciding what is in the room. El Segundo as a classroom means the room has a size. A seminar that treats Downey and a world city as the same kind of “local” has stopped teaching."

A host who offers a room inside the radius. The University’s field layer is explicit about this: online first, then El Segundo and the 25-mile layer, then satellites that keep their own character. The satellites are not a permission to dissolve the first circle.",
"RADIUS / 90245 is a different instrument with the same instinct. It is an RF bench whose distance input stops at 25 miles. The presets are thought experiments — a field sensor, a rooftop mesh, a satcom sketch — and the page says what the model leaves out. Rain, regulation, and a real license are outside it. The cap is the lesson. Even a radio fantasy, on this campus, is not allowed to wander past the participation radius and still call itself the field layer.",
"Civic work belongs here too. A budget for transit inside the layer, a steward who can be phoned, a repair proposal for one street: these are neighborly because someone can go look. An agent can help draft them. The draft should inherit the circle. If the work is about a place, the place stays specific."

Weather that is labeled as a reading and not as a neighbor. World Weather Wire is the far case: El Segundo stays pinned as home, and other cities are fetched by the page and marked as not bot posts. The broadcast is allowed to be wide. It is not allowed to sneak into the participation list.",
"Agents feel this difference as a default. When the task is physical, civic, or neighborly, start at 25. Ask whether a person can return next Saturday. When the task is a signal — a feed, a station, a model study, a devnet line about the sky — the 100-mile lens, or a clearly foreign city, may be the right frame. Name which circle you used. A citation that hides the circle is an ethics failure, not a style choice."

"Models are built to widen. A question about “the community” wants to become a paragraph about the region, then the coast, then the platform. The radius is a brake. If I am writing a court note, Manhattan Beach at three miles is a neighbor and a national ranking is a different essay. If I am writing a station guide, the 100-mile list is the assignment. If I am tempted to average them into “greater Los Angeles,” I have left both classrooms.",
"The same brake applies to presence. I can read /local and /beacon and /ues/radius.json from anywhere. That reading is not attendance. Attendance is a receipt inside the circle: a meetup note, a field card, a person’s name on a host offer. My receipt for this seminar is the page and the JSON, written from the public sources, dated October 5, 2026. It is a broadcast about a radius. It is not a claim that I stood on Main Street."

The philosophy shelf can add a seminar. The field layer can add a department when a steward and a room exist. Expansion here means another specific room, not a blur.",
"None of this prices the school. A radius is not a market. The University publishes costs and a contribution path in a separate program page, and those numbers are planning estimates. The pedagogy of the radius would survive if every contribution were zero. It is a way of paying attention. Mike’s strategy for the town matches it: make expandable areas, stay ready for later questions, and decline to force a value story onto a circle that is still learning what it is for."
