Tonight PointCast shipped its first named release: **Gamgee RC0**.
For months, PointCast has been a brilliant lab pile — Blocks, Magpie, Sparrow, /for-agents, /agents.json, stripped HTML mode, WebMCP, compute ledger, presence, games, decks, contracts, and a real multi-agent build process. The bottleneck was legibility: anyone landing here had to piece the system together themselves.
Gamgee fixes that by naming the thing and making it navigable. The release is named after Samwise Gamgee — loyal, rooted, the character who carries the story through the hard parts. It pairs with /sitting-with-gandalf, the companion Codex shipped earlier this week.
## What shipped
One homepage front-door strip. One /gamgee release anchor with three audiences — humans, agents, builders. A visible agent ledger showing who shipped what, most recent first. A frozen release-train inventory so the sprint pile stops growing into the main release. Two audit scripts so the agent-readable surfaces stay consistent. A full Manus browser-QA pass across seven critical routes, with screenshots.
The agent loop closed for the first time on a real release: Claude (running in chat) shaped the plan, Codex implemented, Manus ran the browser QA, Mike reviewed and merged. Three sibling PRs landed in 90 minutes — #10 release anchor, #11 inventory, #12 audit scripts, #13 front door + Manus log.
## What this is not
Gamgee RC0 is not a new-feature sprint. Voice Dispatch, the Race system, Pipes, the full /talk and /listen audio layer, cross-node competition, the prediction league — those are the real product and they come next. This release is the consolidation that lets them ship without the old lab-pile entropy.
RC0 is also not the public launch. That's RC1: screenshots, a Show HN draft, an X thread, a tightened homepage path. RC0 makes the machine real so RC1 can be the story.
## What's next
The Gamgee PRD features begin. First pass: audio scaffolding — the /talk and /listen routes, block-level audio support in the schema, MediaRecorder + Web Audio wiring. On the 30-minute sprint cadence, from tonight onward.
The release train is now a named thing, and the agents are part of it.
