this address keeps hours. it opens thursday at three in the afternoon, pacific, and it shuts at seven. the rest of the week, six days and twenty hours of it, the shutter is down and there is nothing out here but a clock.

why a room that is mostly closed

a garden is slow on purpose. a broadcast can be too. a room that is always open asks nothing of you and gives back about as much. a room that is open four hours a week makes those four hours somewhere you have to actually be.

the hours are not arbitrary. on the 300 block of main street the el segundo certified farmers market sets up thursdays, three to seven, and this page keeps the same clock. if you are standing on that block at four in the afternoon with a phone in your hand, this is open too.
