Pack a wagon like a base, not a bag. Food, shade and a chair travel together.

Loadout

What to bring.

Core

  • Folding wagon

One trip from the car. Moves camp between fields in a minute.

  • Camp chair per person

Every person, every game. The grass is wet at 8 a.m.

  • Cooler with real food

Concessions run out and lines are long. Sandwiches, fruit, water, ice.

  • Canopy or umbrella

Check the tournament rules: many keep canopies off the sideline and back on the spectator side.

  • Small first-aid kit and instant ice packs

Blisters, scrapes, a rolled ankle while you wait for the trainer.

  • Sunscreen

Reapply between games, for every kid.

  • Phone battery pack

Schedules, scores and field maps live in the tournament app.

  • Team snack, if it is your turnTeam parent

Check the team chat for allergies before you buy.

  • A sibling kitBringing siblings

Ball, blanket, tablet with headphones. The third game is long when it is not yours.

Nice to have

  • Dry socks and a change of clothes

For the player between games, and for the car.

Timeline

How it goes.

  1. Night before

Pack the wagon and the car. Freeze water bottles to work as ice packs in the cooler.

  2. Arrive

Find the next field and the nearest restroom first. Set up camp between them.

  3. Between games

Feed the player, get them in shade and off their feet. Check the next field and time in the app.

  4. After

Count the chairs. Clean up the team area. One last bathroom stop before the drive.

The moves

What helps.

  • Sit on the spectator side the league tells you to. Parents usually sit opposite the bench.
  • Cheer effort, not mistakes. Let referees be wrong without help.
  • Write your number on your kid's bag.

Skip

  • Glass bottles
  • Canopies on the sideline
  • Speakers

Watch for

  • Long days add up. Watch players for heat illness between games, not just during.
  • At the first thunder, head into a substantial building or an enclosed metal-roofed vehicle with the windows closed. Bleachers and tents are not shelter. Remain sheltered for at least 30 minutes following the last thunder, and follow venue instructions.
