Almanac / Bloom Quarter / Week 24
Bloom Quarter · Week 24 of 52 · Mid-June to early September
El Segundo Blue
El Segundo's own butterfly, small and endangered, flies only while seacliff buckwheat blooms.
How it is earned
Earned by joining a public walk or a habitat workday on the El Segundo dunes. The butterfly is federally endangered, so no one searches off trail; the note marks the work, not a sighting.
