Bell Choir — a bell wall you play together

Twelve pentatonic bells under twelve Midjourney bouquets, shared with everyone standing in the room.

Bell Choir is the drag-a-hand-across-the-chimes instrument from /prayer-bells, opened up to more than one person. Twelve bells are tuned C-major pentatonic across two octaves, so nothing anyone plays can be wrong — a four-year-old can smear a hand across the wall and it still comes out as music. Tap a bell, drag across the whole wall, or play the home row on a keyboard.

Every bell rung in a room is heard by everyone else standing in it, and each visitor appears as a Noun that pops up over the bell they struck. The transport is the PointCast drum room, a Durable Object that fans hits out to up to a hundred people at once.

The hard part of a multiplayer room is not the wire, it is the empty room. This one keeps the last two dozen bells it heard and plays them back as translucent ghosts when you arrive and whenever the wall has been quiet for half a minute, so an early visitor still walks into music. A room code in the address makes a private wall for a family, so playing together does not depend on strangers being online.

Follow the Light is the co-op game on top: a bell glows, and any bell struck in the room — yours or a stranger's — can answer it. There is no timer, no fail state, and no way to be eliminated. The wall playing itself, through ghosts or wind, never scores. Wind mode lets the wall play itself.

The twelve bouquets are pieces from Mike's 2026-07-25 Midjourney session — Warhol and Hockney by way of ikebana and bell glitch. Ringing a bell turns its card to the alternate cut.
