Low chair, clear bag, warm layer, and a meet-up spot named before the lights go down.
Loadout
What to bring.
Core
- Low-back lawn chair
Many venues cap chair height so everyone can see. Check the venue page.
- Clear bag
Faster bag check. Many venues require one.
- Blanket
Claims your patch of lawn, then keeps you warm.
- Earplugs
High-fidelity earplugs lower the volume without muddying the music. Kids need ear protection too.
- Phone battery pack
Tickets, rideshare and finding each other all run on the phone.
- Warm layer
The show starts at sunset. It ends cold.
Nice to have
- Picnic, if allowed
Some lawns allow outside food in soft coolers. Some do not. Check.
Timeline
How it goes.
- Before
Read the venue's allowed-items list. Buy parking ahead if they sell it.
- Arrive
Set up near a landmark: a light pole, a sound booth, a sign. Name it as the meet-up spot.
- During
Restroom and drinks during the opener, not the headliner.
- After
Leave before the encore or wait 20 minutes after. Both beat the middle.
The moves
What helps.
- Rideshare pickup is usually a walk from the gate. Find the zone on the venue map before you need it.
- Keep your patch of lawn small. The people behind you came for the show too.
Skip
- Tall chairs
- Umbrellas during the show
- Big hard coolers
Watch for
- Crowds at exits: keep kids close and hold a hand, not a sleeve.
- Hot afternoons into cold nights. Have water early and a layer late.
