Ecoxarxes (Catalan eco-networks) and social-currency barter fairs
Catalonia's ecoxarxes appeared around 2009 in places such as Montseny, each with its own social currency; in September 2010 Barcelona's Ecoxarxa held the city's first barter fair using one.

How a note would work
Baskets are earned by bringing food, crafts or services to a seasonal barter fair and spent on other stallholders' goods. They are never bought or cashed out.
Design concept inspired by this tradition, not issued by or for the people who keep it. Not legal tender, not for sale, no cash value, no redemption and no investment rights.
