Repair Café

Former journalist Martine Postma organised the first Repair Café in Amsterdam in October 2009, where volunteer fixers mended visitors' broken items for free; thousands now run worldwide.

How a note would work

Fixes are earned by volunteering repair skills or lending tools and spent on help mending your own broken item. They are never bought or cashed out.

Design concept inspired by this tradition, not issued by or for the people who keep it. Not legal tender, not for sale, no cash value, no redemption and no investment rights.
