The tradition · since 1991
Commercial trade exchange (Bartercard)
Bartercard was founded on Australia's Gold Coast in 1991 as a business-to-business trade exchange where firms sell spare capacity for trade credits; tax authorities treat such trades as taxable.

How a note would work
Neighbours earn Contras by lending spare capacity, such as a spare room, a trailer or an idle sewing machine, to other members and spend them on anyone's spare capacity. Never bought or cashed out.
Design concept inspired by this tradition, not issued by or for the people who keep it. Not legal tender, not for sale, no cash value, no redemption and no investment rights.
