Year One: the mall learned to surf
PointCast turns 116 impossible wave pedestals into a glossy, fast-reading special issue
Year One is a fast, image-led PointCast Review Lab feature built from 116 supplied works: ceramic ocean-wave pedestals carrying illustrated cans, moving from pop color through Hokusai riffs, quiet gallery studies, and a late neon run.
The editorial cut keeps 22 works and lets the strongest 20 carry the story. It opens with the archive's lone satellite dish, then moves through a 30-second verdict, four visual modes, three Best in Show picks, a plain-language scorecard, and a short bottom line. The reading rhythm is intentionally easy: big pictures, short paragraphs, pull quotes, rankings, and clear captions.
The verdict: a single strong idea, pushed until it becomes a world. The best pieces look useful, impossible, and already famous. PointCast rates Year One 4.5 out of 5.
