The tradition · long-standing; each October

Manka Fiesta (pot fair)

Each October, La Quiaca's Manka Fiesta, named for the Quechua word for cooking pot, gathers potters, herders and farmers from the Puna and southern Bolivia to trade ceramics, wool and produce.

How a note would work

Pots are earned by bringing crafts, wool or produce to a yearly border fair and spent on goods from other valleys. They are never bought or cashed out.

Design concept inspired by this tradition, not issued by or for the people who keep it. Not legal tender, not for sale, no cash value, no redemption and no investment rights.
