Leave a signal
Key a short greeting on the frequency you are parked on. It stays on the air until midnight, so anyone sweeping by can copy it, even after you have gone.
Letters, numbers and spaces. 24 characters. One station per listener per day.
How the band works
- The dial is a place. Where you park is where you are. Everyone here sees your Noun on the band.
- Company hums. Other listeners within a megahertz sound as carriers. Same frequency, one note. Close, a slow beat.
- Company clears static. Alone you must be dead on the fox to copy it. Each listener parked near it widens the window.
- A QSL for everyone there. Copy the whole message and the card lists every Noun who was next to the fox with you.
- Signals keep the band warm. Leave a greeting on your frequency and it keys all day. Copy someone’s signal and you both have a contact.
- The Nightly Net. 9:00 PM in El Segundo, twenty minutes on 7.200. Net control calls out the fox, the whole band copies it together, and every card from the Net is gold.
- Wave, don’t type. Hearts and sparkles float up from your Noun for everyone on the band. Hanging out needs no words.
- No account. Your call sign belongs to this browser. The band remembers only where people tuned, not who they are.
