One week, two channels, official sources, and a public-access television dial.
PointCast Tonight asks a small entertainment question without building another infinite recommendation machine: what could somebody near El Segundo actually do this week? Channel 02 says GO OUT. Channel 04 says STAY IN. The first carries six official-source possibilities from Manhattan Beach, Torrance, and LACMA. The second turns municipal television into a local program guide, including one canceled meeting as an honest OFF AIR slot rather than silently deleting it. Edition 001 covers August 4–9, 2026. A Friday best bet pairs LACMA's block-printing tour with the free Theo Saunders Septet concert on the Smidt Welcome Plaza. Torrance contributes the free TRYST and NOMAD art fairs plus the opening night of Disney's Frozen. Manhattan Beach closes the week with Cobra Cowboy at Polliwog Park. Council meetings may not be leisure for everyone, but the channels, local shows, community events, and odd empty slots constitute a parallel media system hiding in plain sight. The included refresh script is deliberately less powerful than it could be. It checks robots.txt first, reads only sources explicitly marked for automated access, identifies itself, times out, and writes a candidate file in /tmp. Manhattan Beach and LA City pages that were unavailable to the automated client remain manual-only links. Nothing bypasses the block, nothing auto-promotes, and a human must review every candidate before it joins a public edition. The roughly twenty-five-mile ring is an orientation lens, not a measured route, drive time, service boundary, access promise, or geofence. The guide requests no account, location, identity, cookie, analytics, or network write from its reader. Every outing and program retains a direct link to its official publisher because the durable product is not the scraped fragment. It is the visible relationship among a choice, its source, its uncertainty, and the person deciding what to do with the night.
