First Mints: 24 cards, minted on a chain rehearsal
Twenty-four First Mints were minted on a recorded PointCast chain rehearsal, sealed by public dev keys, with no value. Only the recipe lives on chain. Your browser can verify every mint.
Twenty-four First Mints now exist on a recorded PointCast chain rehearsal. Each one is a card: abstract rings, a pattern and a few words in pixel type, like MARINE LAYER, LOW TIDE or SHORTWAVE. Only the recipe goes on chain: a 14-byte header (a version byte, a Nouns seed, a background, a pattern, a typeface, an ink, a layout and the words' length) and then the words, 17 to 26 bytes in all. The card is drawn from that recipe by a renderer the edition pins by its sha256, so the same recipe makes the same card on every machine. That renderer is not published yet; the cards on /chain/mints are its saved output. The rehearsal is a dev chain of 123 blocks, sealed by public dev keys that anyone can use. Nothing on it has value, the edition does not allow transfers, and it is not the launch chain. The 24 landed one per account between block 4 and block 36, serials 1 to 24, out of a supply of 1,200. You can check every mint yourself. Open the Block Yard on the recording with the Mints lens on and press VERIFY. Your browser downloads the chain's consensus code, checks it against a pinned sha256, and replays every block from genesis a9877cac. That proves each mint and its recipe are in the chain; it does not redraw the pictures. The Verify button on /chain/mints opens the yard with that genesis already pinned. Next is the Daily Mint, a daily play auction for one new card on the devnet, with bids in play ATTN, which has no value. It is being designed now, and the 24 First Mints are not part of it. No play auction runs, nothing is for sale, and there is no start date yet.
