Friend Frame v2 · the frame keeps
Every friend gets a private tag for their day, frames are kept on the server, and every day goes into the album. Start one for your own seven.
This morning's Friend Frame was a toy. Anything you hung was gone when you closed the tab. This afternoon it keeps.
/friend-frame/ is now a wall. Today's frame hangs from a nail with a picture, a poem card tucked into the corner and a note clipped to the edge. Below it, seven small frames lean on a ledge, one for each day of the week. Below that is the album, a polaroid for every day a friend has hung.
Anyone can start a frame for their own seven. Name it, add your friends if you like, and you get seven tags. Each tag is a private link to one day of the week. Send Monday's tag to whoever should have Mondays. Nobody signs up for anything.
A friend who opens their tag gets their own seat. They type a poem and a note and drop in a photo from their phone. It is shrunk on the phone before it leaves. Every change shows on the real frame as they type. Press Hang it and a small bell rings. If today is their day, the whole town sees it now. If not, it goes up at midnight on their day, and they can change it until then. Once the day is over, it is kept.
The owner keeps a frame shop. They can rename seats, retire a tag and issue a new one, and take a day down if they need to. The owner link is never stored on our side, only a fingerprint of it, and the seat tags are worked out from it. The links travel after the # in the address, so they don't end up in anyone's logs.
The wall follows El Segundo's clock. Morning light moves across it from the window, it goes gold before sunset, and a lamp comes on after dark. The frame's shadow moves with the sun.
The town frame on the front door is still hung with seven house stand-ins. Each seat stays a stand-in until a real friend takes it. If you want a day on the town frame, ask on Shortwave.
