The experiment register · snapshot August 17, 2026

PointCast is a giant experiment. Here is what is measured.

52 rooms and apps, scored on what can actually be counted today. Only 8 of them keep a public counter, so most rows are craft (how much was built) and reach (how hard the town points at it), not proof anyone came. One number is not a proxy: the drum has 26,103 public hits; the next-most-used room has 69.

How the score works

Use
A public counter the room already keeps (drum hits, votives lit, prayers said, letters left) or, from now on, path-only pageviews. Log-scaled: about 30,000 ≈ 1.0.
Craft
Lines of source across the room's pages, components, functions and lib (log-scaled; 20,000 ≈ 1.0) plus tests that name it. How much got built, not how good it is.
Reach
Other pages that link to it, wire blocks that point at it, and whether it is on the front door.
Score
With a counter: 45% use, 27.5% craft, 27.5% reach. Without one: half craft, half reach. Re-runnable from the repo; the JSON twin is at /register.json.

What is not measured yet

  • Commit history was flattened on July 30, 2026, so cadence, authorship and age are unusable until it grows back.
  • Route-level human traffic. A path-only pageview beacon went live on August 17, 2026; the first full read is a season away.
  • Taste. Nothing here knows which rooms Mike thinks are the best. That column is his to fill.

Prep for 2027

  1. Measure before we scaleEvery page now reports one path-only pageview. In 90 days every room has a real use number and this board ranks on visitors, not proxies.
  2. Keep the winners litThe drum is the one room strangers actually use. It gets the front door, the maintenance, and the next multiplayer work.
  3. Retire quietly, keep the receiptRooms that stay under ten uses for a season move to the archive shelf. Their blocks and routes stay live; nothing is deleted.
  4. Fewer doors, better doorsThe front door edits down to a handful of proven rooms plus one live experiment, instead of a stack of every recent edition.
  5. Machine-readable everythingBoard, blocks, and rooms stay readable by agents (/register.json, /agents.json, /blocks.json). 2027 traffic may not be human first.
  6. A season, not a launchNo flood of traffic is expected soon. The goal is a town that is worth arriving at whenever people do — and a ledger that proves what worked.
